Terms of service

Last updated: 7 November 2026

These terms apply to this website, modylight.com, and to the lamp generator at make.modylight.com. By creating an account or using the lamp generator, you agree to them. Please also read the privacy policy.

1. Who we are

MODYLight is offered by David Follen, trading as CuratedLayer, Belgium. Contact: [email protected]. A postal address is available on request.

2. The service

The lamp generator lets you choose a shape, a size, a pattern and colours, and creates a digital file (3MF) of a patterned lamp that you can print on your own 3D printer. We supply digital files only; we do not sell printed lamps, filament or electrical parts.

3. Your account

4. Credits

5. Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may withdraw from a purchase of credits within 14 days without giving a reason, for every credit you have not used. Write to [email protected] or use the contact form; we refund within 14 days using the means of payment you used.

When you use a credit to unlock a lamp file, you ask for the file to be delivered immediately and confirm that you lose your right of withdrawal for that file. The lamp generator asks you to confirm this each time.

6. Payments

Paid credits are not on sale yet. The payment provider and its terms will be named here before the first paid credit is sold.

7. What you may do with lamp files

The designs, patterns and files remain the intellectual property of CuratedLayer. When you unlock a lamp file, you receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to:

You may not:

8. Printing and safety

9. Availability and the beta

We work to keep the service available, but cannot promise it will always be free of interruptions. We may improve or change features. During the beta, the service may be reset and data erased; testers will be told beforehand.

10. Your legal rights and our liability

If you are a consumer, you keep all your legal rights, including the legal guarantee that digital content conforms to what was described. If a lamp file is faulty, tell us and we will fix it, give you a new credit or refund you.

We are fully liable for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for damage caused by printing, assembling or using a lamp against these terms or the safety advice above.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when paid credits open. We change the date at the top and tell account holders about important changes by email before they apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using the service and delete your account.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim before the courts of that country or of Belgium. Please contact us first: most problems are solved quickly by email.
